NAGAMBIE IS AN EXCEPTIONALLY LIVEABLE TOWN
Located in the Strathbogie Shire of Victoria, close to other lifestyle destinations, such as Murchison, Seymour, Avenel, Longwood and Shepparton, it is home to just under 2,000 people.
HEALTH
Nagambie’s location means it has easy access to local and regional medical facilities. Nagambie is home to a private hospital, Nagambie HealthCare. The lakefront facility is a Department of Health and Aged Care certified organisation, providing residential aged care services, including low dependency, residential and acute care.
Nagambie Medical Centre is a GP offering everything from intensive medical treatments and services to general health assessments. First Aid, General Medicine, Wound Management and on-site Pathology combine to make the Nagambie Medical Centre a holistic medical facility.
The nearest public hospital is located a stone’s throw away in Seymour (Seymour Health), approximately a 20-minute drive from Nagambie. The Shepparton Hospital, equipped with an emergency department, is also only 45 minutes away.
EDUCATION
Nagambie and Avenel offer accessible childcare and primary school education making it an ideal place to raise children. School bus services are available each day to Seymour, Euroa and Shepparton, transferring students to secondary colleges.
Nagambie Preschool and Childcare Centre
Part of the Goulburn Region Preschool Association, the Nagambie Preschool and Childcare Centre runs programs for children ages 0-to-school age. The Centre is located in the heart of the town.
Avenel Preschool
Part of the Goulburn Region Preschool Association, the Avenel Preschool Centre runs programs for children ages 0-to-school age.
Nagambie Primary School
Nagambie Primary School has approximately 156 children and 18 staff. The School provides specialist programs alongside the regular curriculum. These programs include Art, Physical Education and eLearning, supported by class computers, laptops and IPads. The School runs leadership programs for senior students and provides support to those with additional needs. Classes range from Prep-to-Year 6.
St Joseph’s Primary School
St Joseph’s is a Catholic Primary School in Nagambie. It is located in the centre of Nagambie and offers the regular school curriculum and activities.
Seymour College
Seymour College is located 30 km south of Nagambie. Seymour College is an F-12 and Special Education College. The mission of the school is to educate and provide opportunities for all students to achieve their full potential.
Euroa Secondary College
There are 350 students enrolled at Euroa Secondary College. Students come from within a 60km radius. It offers classes from years 7-12. VET, VCE and VCAL are also taught along with traditional subjects at years 7-to-10.
TRANSPORT
Located just off the Hume Hwy and with easy access to the Goulburn Valley Highway (a major link between Victoria and inland New South Wales), Nagambie’s transport infrastructure is noted for its regular train and bus lines connecting Nagambie to Melbourne and further north to Moama.
Nagambie has its own train station. The three trains passing through Nagambie are:
Echuca/Moama – Melbourne via Shepparton
Shepparton – Melbourne via Seymour
Griffith – Melbourne via Shepparton
On a regular day, there are eight inbound and nine outbound train/bus services operating in Nagambie.
PROPERTY
Property in Nagambie is affordable and appreciating in value. 88% of the population live in stand-alone houses compared to the Victorian average of 73.2%. Moreover, the majority of people in Nagambie have the luxury of living in their own homes located in the heart of the community. For those in Nagambie and surrounding townships if you are interested in obtaining a copy of the Community Voice it is available for collection from the Avenel Post Office, Nagambie Newsagency, Nagambie Post Office, Champions IGA, Ray White Nagambie or the Nagambie Lakes Visitor’s Information Centre.
SPORT AND RECREATION
Situated on the beautiful Lake Nagambie, there is an extensive list of possible sporting and recreational activities to pursue.
The Nagambie Rowing Club is a large part of the community, encouraging a healthy lifestyle and community togetherness. Rowing is a popular sport and attracts thousands to Nagambie each year for the APS Schools Head of the River.
Fishing, water-skiing and boating are also activities that Nagambie’s visitors and citizens enjoy. Being active on the lake is a large part of Nagambie life.
However, Nagambie offers far more than aquatic sports and activities. Cycling and walking trails are popular ways to exercise and spend time outside. People also enjoy visiting the local wineries and eating and socialising at many of the local businesses.
GREAT OUTDOORS
Plentiful countryside and green space, connectivity to major road and rail network, sunshine, water and work/life balance. Country living and well-being, sense of belonging, safety and security. Community, family values, relaxed and stress-free.
Heathcote-Graytown National Park is a great place for bushwalks. Mt Ida, Mt Black and Viewing Rock provide views of Heathcote and surrounding areas.The park also has a rich history with relics from the gold rush and war era to discover at Graytown. Melvilles Lookout is a prominent ridge where Captain Melville reputably waited in ambush for miners during the gold rush.
If an overnight stay is more your style, pitch a tent at the Dargile camping and picnic area and wake up to a choir of birds.

Heathcote-Graytown National Park is located 110kms north of Melbourne via the Hume Highway.
TRADITIONAL OWNERS
The traditional owners of the Strathbogie Shire are represented by two major groups with deep connections to the land and water – the Yorta Yorta Nation in the northern plains of the Goulburn and Murray Rivers, and the Taungurung Clans in the southern catchment, which include the rivers and mountains of the Strathbogie Ranges.
The Yorta Yorta Nation includes eight clan groups: Moira, Kailtheban, Wollithiga, Nguaria-iiliam-wurrung, Ulupna, Kwat Kwat, Bangerang and Yalaba Yalaba. Some Bangerang people and other groups prefer to be recognised as separate cultural groups.
The Taungurung Clans are distinguished by nine clans: Buthera Balug, Look William, Moomoom Gundidj, Nattarak Balug, Nira Balug, Warring-Illum Balug, Yarran-Illiam, Yeeren-Illiam-Balug and Yowung-Illam Balug.
