Nagambie

Dorrington Park is located approximately four radial kilometres west of Nagambie on Nook Road, and enjoys extensive frontage to the Goulburn River. The surrounding area is highly regarded from an agricultural standpoint for equine breeding, heralded throughout Victoria and Australia as ‘Victoria’s Thoroughbred Homeland’ and the ‘Horse Capital of Victoria’.

The horse property that neighbours Tahbilk Winery is one of Victoria’s oldest thoroughbred establishments and has a close link with yesterday’s great race. Dual Melbourne Cup winner Rain Lover was born on the farm, which at the time stood his sire Latin Lover.

Past owners took the connection with the horse industry one step further when they constructed a replica of the famous Flemington rose arbour on the property. Farm manager at the time Bob Norris, recalls taking measurements with owner, Mr Scarborough at Flemington, and the work was completed by local tradesmen. Seymour sculptor Steve Wolfe made the frames.

The gardens are designed to be viewed in a specific way, in roughly a circular fashion.

Dorrington Park is one of the region’s most successful equine properties, making it an instantly recognizable location for prospective purchasers. The surrounding area is also well-known for wine production (Tahbilk Winery borders Dorrington Park’s southern Boundary), as well as being a leading tourist destination, given the highly visited Nagambie Lakes, along with cellar doors, cafes, restaurants and other attractions.
